Instapaper does not belong to Pinterest

The Instapaper bookmarking service becomes an independent company. Instapaper was purchased by Pinterest in 2013,

Created in 2008, the Instapaper bookmarking service was purchased by Betaworks in 2013. The latter was then purchased by Pinterest in 2016.

Today, however, Instapaper becomes an independent society. In one ticket, the bookmarking service announces that Pinterest has entered into an agreement to transfer ownership of Instapaper to Instant Paper, Inc., a new company owned and operated by the same people who worked on Instapaper since it Sold to Betaworks by Marco Armen in 2013

And for the moment, we do not know the reasons for this decision. In addition to thanking Pinterest for supporting him, Instapaper even states that nothing should change. "The product will continue to be built and maintained by the same people who have worked on Instapaper over the past five years." We plan to continue to offer a robust reader-centred service and reading experience in the predicted future.

the good news is that Instapaper should soon be available again in Europe. After the entry into force of the RGPD, the service was closed for EU users. But in a conversation related to the announcement of this new independence, Instapaper indicated that he is working for a return "for soon" of his service in Europe.
