If your device is compatible, then you can go to the next step: Back up your data. This is not mandatory but recommended. It will be able to recover all its contents in case of a problem during the process or even later. To do this, you just have to go through ICloud.
- Go to Settings
- Select icloud and then icloud backup
- Press Save now
